Meeting with Psyche- 20th September

At the meeting with Psyche, we got to discuss all of the ideas we had and how we would go about doing them. Before the meeting, I put together a little powerpoint just showing the visualizations of the windows and the different mannequin heads as well as the different kinds of trees that would work in the windows. All the members of Psyche seemed to be happy and quite enthusiastic about the final outcome, as were us students. We also got told that the windows would be entered into a competition which sounded very exciting as this would look really good on our CVs as well as feeling accomplished in being part of something.

Summary of meeting:-

  • The installation of the windows- 28th October (latest 4th November)
  • If we needed any electrical work doing, Psyche have their own indoor electrician
  • 5 trees are needed for the windows- 7 windows, however 2 small windows don’t need trees
  • Potentially putting lights in clear bottles on trees to make them look a little more christmassy
  • Three mannequins in each window (15 mannequin heads needed overall)
  • Old TVs are wanted for the mannequin heads
  • Repeat pattern for backgrounds of waste- black/dark (images bought from Shutter stock or we design and take photo ourselves
  • Flags need designing- just black with white Pysche logo on

This meeting was very insightful and it allowed us to come up with an action plan so we could progress and start constructing the different elements of the project.

Week commencing- 19th August

Mark and I had many points to think about, therefore I found it easier to make a list so I didn’t lose track of the things I needed to do. My list went as follows:

  • Think about chandelier (whether it will have bottles on it)
  • Add bottles to Christmas trees (Photoshop)
  • Different head pieces on mannequins (Add variety so Psyche have more to choose from)
  • Change sitting down ones (Psyche don’t have sitting down mannequins- they will be stood up)
  • Think about phrases/hashtags

This list was completed more or less straight away as they were simple tasks to do. Also, I wanted to make sure we were up to date and on track with everything.

Work Experience- Introduction to the Concept

Week commencing- 12th August

I was introduced to the Psyche Christmas window project, where I was given the position of Production Manager. I found out that the concept was based on “Buy less, Buy well” and this was to include a marketing campaign to comment on fast fashion and waste. From then on, I was given a list of things to complete as there had to be sufficient improvement from the week before. The first task for me to complete was to prepare visuals for the windows as we are due for a meeting in a couple of weeks’ time.
